Professional athletes must manage the pressure
of living in a fiercely competitive world in which performance,
productivity and worth are constantly scrutinized. Athletes often know what
they should be doing to manage this pressure but are frustrated about how
to do it. Mental Conditioning Training offers practical, effective skills
so athletes embody the thoughts, feelings and physical sensations crucial
to improving their game.
The action-oriented format of each training
module includes brief demonstration of each skill, e.g., changing negative
self-talk, and role-play activities followed by discussion of how to apply
in various contexts. Athletes practice each skill in the training session
